Willr, the band, is the brainchild of Will, guitarist and founding member of two of Boston's most acclaimed, innovative bands: Count Zero (featured on Rock Band and Guitar Hero games) and Think Tree. It combines his love of both acoustic traditional music (like early to midcentury blues, traditional country and folk songs) with electronic/distorted keyboard/guitar textures and samples (partially influenced by modern classical music and experimental composers) — mix this with a love of creative wordplay and the result is a stew of songs that feel both familiar and utterly new at the same time, they are also multilayered—providing sonic details that reward repeated listening.
