Mini documentary video about the Great Pyrenees covering breed history, origin, information, uses, and a full description with size including height and weight. The Great Pyrenees is a large and powerful livestock guardian dog breed from the Pyrenees mountains. The breed was developed in the Pyrenees mountains on the border of Spain and France. It's believed they are descended from the MaremmanoAbruzzese aka Maremma Sheepdog and Hungarian Kuvasz. They are also related to the St. Bernard. This is an old breed and by the 17th century, most French noble wanted one. They were recognized by the AKC in 1933. The breed also works well as an avalanche rescue dog, war dog, pulling carts, sled dog, companion, and guard dog.
